The Boyfriend Project | Farrah Rochon

If you are looking for a love story with diversity and female empowerment, look no further.

The book opens with Samiah, a hardworking Black woman in tech, getting ready for a date with her sort-of-boyfriend, Craig. As Samiah's sister is scrolling through Twitter, she finds a thread about a woman having a VERY bad first date. Samiah finds all the details a bit too familiar and realizes is it the SAME exact date that Craig took her on for their first date! She marches down to the restaurant to confront him.

After a video of the incident goes viral, Samiah and the other women Craig dated become fast friends. London, Taylor & Samiah swear off men and make themselves a standing date every Friday. There, they decide they are going to focus on themselves, get a hobby, and follow a dream.

Daniel just started his new job at Samiah's workplace, Trendsetters. He isn't your normal tech geek. He actually is working under cover for the government to try and figure out who is using Trendsetters to launder money in South America.

When Daniel and Samiah meet, there is instant chemistry, but both try to fight it. Samiah has her promise to London & Taylor. Daniel has his case, and can't get involved with someone under the pretense of a lie. Their efforts are futile.

An Alicia read ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars. This book was so darn fun. It was cheesy and corny and sexy. It really ticks all of the Romance boxes. It gets major points from me for showing strong female friendships and role models! I am looking forward to August of 2021 when we get the next in the series (you guessed it was a series right?)
